Ocean collected plastic

Driven by purpose

Polyocean is built on the principle that waste can become a resource, transforming ocean-collected plastic into embroidery thread with renewed purpose.

The mission focuses on protecting marine wildlife by cleaning shorelines and oceans in high-risk regions. Only post-consumer plastic is recycled, collected through a country scoring system that identifies areas where plastic is most likely to enter the ocean.

This system is regularly verified to ensure sourcing remains focused on coastal and high-risk environmental regions.

A vision from the sea

Through coordinated community programmes and local partnerships, discarded plastic is collected from vulnerable environments including coastlines, rivers, mangroves, wetlands, remote islands, and beaches. At the same time, ghost nets are recovered from the ocean to help protect marine wildlife and restore ecosystems.

Once recovered, the materials are carefully sorted, cleaned, flaked, and pelletised. These pellets are then extruded into continuous filament threads by certified partners, ensuring suitability for high-performance textile applications such as embroidery threads.

Dyed and refined at Madeira in Germany using a clean, energy-saving process, it produces a premium semi-gloss embroidery thread with excellent performance.
