Madeira UK is delighted to announce the promotion of Andrew Maylor to Managing Director. Andrew, who joined the company in October 2017 as Head of Sales, will take over from Karen Burrows, effective 1st May 2023. Andrew reflects, “I have benefitted from working alongside Karen for the past six years, trying to absorb as much of her vast industry knowledge as possible. Having just moved into larger, purpose-built premises, the structure of the business couldn’t be better, and I am excited to build on the amazing success the team has achieved.”
Karen Burrows will become Chairman of Madeira UK and has been appointed Senior Advisor to the Board at Madeira Germany continuing her focus on the strategic development of the global business. Karen will remain as Sales Director for Northern Europe and as a non-executive board member at the PCIAW®. Karen joined the Madeira group in 1985 in purchasing and stock control gradually moving into sales, marketing, and business development. She became UK Managing Director in July 2001. Karen says, “On behalf of all the staff at Madeira UK, I would like to welcome Andrew to the role of Managing Director. Andrew has gained a great reputation and made a good impression in the industry. Already responsible for the day to day running of the business he is well equipped to take charge. I’m looking forward to making further contributions to the global Madeira business”.
As world leaders gathered to discuss the global push towards acting more sustainably, Madeira has been recognised by the professional clothing and uniforms industry, winning the acclaimed PCIAW® Sustainability Award 2021.
The Sustainability Award is bestowed on an individual or company who has shown outstanding initiative and/or development in implementing sustainable solutions.

The new label Madeira Green has been developed in response to a growing demand for eco-friendly products. It gathers the efforts made by the company with the aim of making the entire embroidery chain more sustainable.
